On June 23rd 1940, Hitler makes a whirlwind trip to Paris, the capital of the country he’s just defeated. His visits to the Opera, the Concorde, the Champs-Elysées and the Trocadero fill him with wonder and awe. He even calls that day “the greatest and finest moment of my life.” Because though Hitler despises the French, he has an odd fascination with their capital.
