This is the story of a tremendous venture: the CLOV project. Dreamed up in France, between Paris and Pau, it will use equipment made in South Korea, China and Norway to delve under the deep waters off Angola. It has taken on a colossal challenge: designing, building and running an FPSO: a Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading unit to tap off-shore oil.
An FPSO can extract oil from several dozen wells at the same time, then refine and store it. And when the reserves are tapped out, it can move on to new oil fields.
After four years of hard work, the CLOV team is about to draw the first drop of oil from this incredible field… if everything goes as planned.
